Not your ordinary project – The Steel Shop overcomes technical challenges to complete a unique project for Vlasic Pickle, a division of Pinnacle Foods.
Imlay City, MI – The Steel Shop, a turnkey design and build company specializing in steel fabrication and construction for the food and manufacturing industry – has proven once again that no obstacle is too big to overcome.
In 2008, The Steel Shop began construction of a building expansion and connecting corridor to the original Vlasic structure. The construction was completed without interrupting operations at the processing plant. Extraordinary caution was taken to prevent debris from entering the processing area of the plant during construction.
At this point, the challenge that Delta Industrial (partnering with The Steel Shop) faced in restoring the berms was how to prevent two ponds from eroding, while at the same time enabling the berms to successfully support the heavy vehicle traffic required to inspect the ponds, a process critical to maintaining manufacturing excellence. Through an innovative use of road reinforcing material, Delta and The Steel Shop were successful in accomplishing the task on time and within budget.
The Steel Shop maintains an in-house staff of quality and dedicated Professional Licensed Engineers, Certified Welders and a fully staffed and equipped fabrication shop that includes steel sheers, press brakes, pipe benders, and more. As a turnkey supplier, the company controls all aspects of the construction process from the anchor bolts up.
The Steel Shop has offices located in Michigan, Alabama, and Kentucky, enabling them to serve clients with a continuity of service regardless of where new business expansions might take them within the continental United States.
